RWC 2015 Qualifiers

Saturday 24th March saw Mexico take on Jamaica in the first RWC 2015 qualifier. It was a massive occasion for the hosts and for a few hours on Saturday, Mexico City became the home of rugby as the International Rugby Board confirmed its commitment to the sport’s worldwide growth by helping to put on a show to rival the Rugby World Cup Final itself.

The opening RWC 2015 qualifier in Mexico was a resounding success. The National media coverage of the event in Mexico was impressive. There was a full page feature in the major national newspaper, Excelsior, which is the first time Rugby has had national newspaper coverage in Mexico.

A record crowd for a Rugby match in Mexico saw the home team comfortably dispatch Jamaica 68-14 in Mexico City to open their NACRA Caribbean Championship account with a victory in an entertaining match.
